From Sep. 13-23, the musical Sailor Moon -La Reconquista- will be held at AiiA Theater Tokyo. Visuals have been released featuring the actresses dressed in costume, as well as one of Tuxedo Mask.
The musical, which is one part of the “Sailor Moon 20 Year Anniversary Project,” features modern, stylish, costumes that have been renewed. The main visual shows the gallant actresses, who were chosen by audition, of the Sailor Moon characters transformed. Satomi Okubo will be performing Sailor Moon, Miyabi Matsuura will be performing Sailor Mercury, Kanon Nanaki will be performing Sailor Mars, Yuu Takahashi will be performing Sailor Jupiter, and Shiori Sakata will be performing Sailor Venus. Also, Yuga Yamato will be performing Tuxedo Mask. What’s more, series creator Naoko Takeuchi herself participated as an audition judge. For that reason, it can be said that the girls’ figures perfectly match the adored Sailor Moon girls.
Satomi Okubo is a hopeful newcomer who will have her full-fledged debut with this work. Fans are waiting in anticipation to see what kind of new life the overflowing with charm cast will deliver in the new musical.
The musical features an all female cast including Tuxedo Mask, who is being performed by former Takarazuka top star, Yuga Yamato. Being her first male role after having retired from Takarazuka, attention on the cast grew as soon as this announcement was made.
Villains of Sailor Moon––Dark Kingdom Queen Beryl of Dark Kingdom and Kunzite, also known by Malachite––will be played by Midori Hatsukaze and Ryou Saika, respectively. They are also both former Takarazuka male role actresses. Furthermore, Jadeite, also known as Jedite, will be performed by Root, a popular model for Kera Boku, Japan’s first boyish fashion women’s magazine.
Pre-order ticket sales have finished, but general tickets will become available beginning Aug. 17 at 10:00 a.m.
