“The Flowers of Evil” Episode 8 Recap

When the cold sun wavers over the horizon,
Unnoticed, the intense agony levied on me
Changes into luscious pleasure.
How wonderful!
But the nightmare I fought so hard and repelled,
Like leftovers of a feast I’m reluctant to leave,
Is stirring up envy in my heart now.
The sins of my soul are exposed in bright sunshine,
Spreading in my whole body like poison,
And I’m just left befuddled.
(from the official episode guide)

After the storm-like night, Takao and Nakamura are walking on the streets of the morning town. Even the roads they take every day somehow seem like sceneries from a different world.

It is once again confirmed that this is not an average anime, as the beginning of this episode just shows the two of them walking, without saying even a word in the first at least six minutes.

And what Takao felt after blurting out the urge in the depth of his heart maybe wasn’t regret, but a strange, refreshing feeling. However, his feelings of exaltation are erased as he is confronted with the reality of the devastated classroom and a school-scale meeting. As Takao is standing behind the school building feeling nauseous at his own doings, Saeki appears in front of him. What kind of fate will her question bring about?
