Seibu Lions and “Anohana” to Collaborate! Voice Cast to Participate in Season-Opening Ceremony

On Aug. 17 at the Seibu Dome, the event “Anohana the Movie - Super Peace Lions Day” will be held. The event is a collaboration with the Saitama Seibu Lions baseball team and the movie for the anime We Still Don’t Know the Name of the Flower We Saw that Day (aka Anohana) which will be released on Aug. 31. The first pitches at the opening ceremony to be held that day will be thrown by members of the movie’s cast, including Ai Kayano (Menma), Haruka Tomatsu (Anaru), and Saori Hayami (Tsuruko).

*Anohana* is a huge hit anime that was first broadcast in 2011. The anime was broadcast from April to October and spurred roughly 80,000 fans to visit Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture, the setting of the anime. Due to that, economic gains of roughly 320 million yen were brought to the area.

Even now, those who visit the area from all over Japan are never ceasing, and this has led to a revitalization of the area. The new face of Saitama continues to be loved. Due to its impact, it was only natural for a collaboration with Seibu Lions, the face of Saitama, to come about.

Facing toward the release of the movie, a collaboration also began in April with the city of Chichibu. Another collaboration beginning this month is with Seibu Railway. Among the advancing collaboration projects, the newest one to be implemented is the special collaboration with the Saitama Seibu Lions. “Anohana the Movie - Super Peace Lions Day” will be held during the game against the optimistic Eagles on Aug. 17 that will start at 5 p.m. Three members of the anime’s main cast––Ai Kayano, Haruka Tomatsu, Saori Hayami––will participate in this event by taking part in the season-opening ceremony, doing stadium announcements, and more. This isn’t an event simply for fans; it also has outstanding appeal due to it being during a regular baseball game.

Along with the announcement of this collaboration, a specially drawn illustration has been released. The illustration features the Super Peace Busters en masse to support Seibu Dome. A great number of original goods featuring this illustration are also planned to be sold on the day of the event. Also, the first 500 people to buy a ticket will receive an original scarf towel.
