“Arc Fes” is a large-scale fighting game event that was held to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the game maker, Arc System Works. We previously released a series of articles taking an in-depth look at different aspects of this huge event. The series that have made the name Arc System Works famous throughout the world are undoubtedly Guilty Gear and Blazblue. This time, we’d like to share messages for our readers from the creators of these respective series, Daisuke Ishiwatari and Toshimichi Mori. Enjoy!
Message from Daisuke Ishiwatari, general director of the Guilty Gear series:
Hello, to everyone all over the world. This is Ishiwatari from Arc System Works! “Arc Fes” was a huge success, but since it would be unfortunate if this feverish event were only delivered to Japan, I’d really like to report, if I can, to everyone. I hope this comes across, even a little, as an event report. At the event, as a big announcement for the Guilty Gear series, we announced the completely new game Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign.
The key phrases of Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign are changing the series’ attitude and returning to its roots. We fixed our eyes on the simple attraction that is at the basis of fighting games as well as on undergoing a challenging new experiment. For new users and those who have enjoyed the series up till now, all of us on the staff have devoted ourselves so that you will feel a fresh passion for the game. Please look forward to it.
Starting now, we are looking forward to the coming of the day when the rebirthed Sol and Ky battle it out in the world!! If Mori attends E3 for Blazblue PR, I want to go next year to where all of you are!! At that time, I hope I can meet all of you!
Message from Toshimichi Mori, producer of the Blazblue series:
Hello to all overseas fans. I’m Mori from Arc System Works. I’m very pleased that “Arc Fes” was a huge success!! I’m also pleased that the enthusiasm of the event was conveyed in Tokyo Otaku Mode’s articles.
This was thoroughly shed in the new PV at the event, but the latest game in the Blazblue series, of which I am the producer, is the console version of Blazblue: Chronophantasma (BBCP) which will include two additional characters: Kagura Mutsuki and Yuuki Terumi.
Of course, in addition to the new characters, a variety of new components have been added, including a new system, improved graphics, and more. I can’t distinctly promise when this game will be released overseas, but we are in the middle of producing it so that you all can play it as well, so please wait a bit longer.
Furthermore, we are working hard because we want to hold a fighting game tournament in America next year, so I am attending E3 this year to inspect it and take various notes. If you happen to see me in the event hall, please feel free to say hi!
I am also taking part in the story of the anime announced at “Arc Fes,” as well as other areas of its composition. I think current Blazblue fans will be able to enjoy it without feeling like anything is amiss. I am also receiving help from director Hideki Tachibana and co-director Seiji Mizushima! In addition to that, the original staff of the games is participating. Production on the work is progressing with our powerful team of staff, so I hope you will look forward to it!
