10 Years After “Nocturne”...the Long-Awaited Game “Shin Megami Tensei IV” Finally Releases

On May 23, Atlus released the Nintendo 3DS game Shin Megami Tensei IV, the newest game in its flagship series, Shin Megami Tensei. It has been 10 years since the game Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne and nine years since Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne Maniax. Time sure flies, and finally the next numbered game in the series is available to play.

Staff on the game includes Kazuma Kaneko, demon designer and scenario planner for the series, and the team who worked on the production of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne Maniax. Even when this was announced, anticipation rose among fans of the series. Currently, the game seems to have been well worth the wait, with players saying, “This is Megami Tensei!” Similar to Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, Soul Hackers, and Persona, it fuses the feeling of both new and old Shin Megami Tensei works due to its unique approach.
