Nyaruko-san once again creeped into Akihabara’s premier maid cafe, Cure Maid Cafe. From May 17 to June 2 a cafe based on the anime Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W was opened in the cafe. In addition to the inside of the cafe being decked out in everything Nyaruko-san related, special food and drink items based on the show were also introduced. It was a definite must-see for Nyaruko fans.
The menu lineup included a Nyaruko drink, Kuko drink, a “Perplexing Words Cake,” “Kuko’s Once Again Difficult to Describe Delusion Embodiment Parfait,” and the “San Chichokuso?! Nyarlathotep” that made patrons lose their sanity by seeing it. Both the characters and the world of the anime were reflected in the menu.
The Nyaruko drink was an unconventional yet refreshing soda that came in the same green color as Nyaruko’s eyes. Her love for Mahiro was expressed through the white straw, white knee-high socks, and heart-shaped jelly. The Kuko drink came in the same fiery red color as her hair. The drink was overflowing with thoughts of Nyaruko with heart candy gum syrup included as a garnish.
The “Perplexing Words Cake” was a strawberry cheesecake that had different sayings written on it. Seeing what saying you would get was half the fun of ordering it. “Kuko’s Once Again Difficult to Describe Delusion Embodiment Parfait” was, as the name suggests, difficult to describe and came with cookies in the shape of crowbars.
The “San Chichokuso?! Nyarlathotep” dish came in the image of the Cthulhu deity, Nyarlathotep. This too was a difficult to describe food item that you had to see to believe. Don’t worry, this item was certified by the Space Defence Agency, so it was safe.
Those who brought in a copy of the anime’s opening or ending theme CD single were able to order a special drink. Also, those who ordered off of the themed menu received one of two types of postcards as a present. The cafe also had Nyaruko goods for sale in advance.
