Japanese Version of “Tomb Raider” Releases Along with Second Gameplay Movie

The Japanese version of the newest game in the Tomb Raider series was released by Square Enix on April 25. Along with the game, the second gameplay movie called “Survivor is Born” was also released.

The movie starts with the main character Lara Croft being captured and hung upside down inside a cave. The cave features other people also hanging upside down and is littered with human remains, which gives the scene an ominous feel. The movie also introduces the “Survival Instinct” system, which highlights objects of importance in the environment.

In honor of the new game, Pixiv recently held a contest called “‘Tomb Raider’ Lara Croft & Survival Girls Fanart Contest” in which illustrations were gathered that were themed around Lara Croft and survival. The contest is already over, but you can look at the entries. Many popular creators also entered the contest and drew fanart of Lara, including manga artist Ai Kozaki.
