The Second Season to “Oreimo” Finally Begins! Remaining Story from Light Novel to be Covered

Continuing where the first season left off, with Kirino going to America to study abroad, the second season of Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai (or simply known as Oreimo) is now underway.

Oreimo began as a Japanese light novel written by Tsukasa Fushimi and illustrated by Kanzakihiro. The book has been published since August 2008 by Dengeki Bunko. The light novel has spawned several adaptations including a manga, drama CDs, and games.

The story follows the daily lives of two siblings, one in middle school and one in high school. High school student Kyosuke Kousaka is extremely average and lives his ordinary days peacefully. That is until he finds out that his little sister Kirino, who is smart, great at sports, and works as a model, is a closet otaku who is obsessed with moe anime and eroge games. Kyosuke is quickly and suddenly pulled into her world when she begins asking him for “life counseling.”

The second season is based off of the “true route” of season one in which Kirino goes to study abroad in America. The “true route” episode was originally an extra on the anime’s DVD and it was also distributed for a limited time on the web. In season two, Kirino returns from America and her “life counseling” starts anew, embroiling Kyosuke in even more strife. This season also tells the last of the story from the original light novel, the final volume of which will be released on June 7. The story will closely follow that of the light novel’s and will wrap up with a drama CD and episodes included on the anime’s DVD and Blu-ray.

Due to its huge popularity, especially with those who enjoy “imouto anime,” fans were highly anticipating the second season of Oreimo. The tantalizing and bittersweet dialogue between Kyosuke and Kirino is sure to leave fans wanting more! If you haven’t seen Oreimo yet, why not experience the show from the beginning?
