Introduction to “Disgaea D2,” the Newest Game in the Popular Series “Disgaea”

Nippon Ichi Software has contributed a vast amount of popular games to the world, but the Disgaea series might be the most well known among them. On March 20, 2013, the newest game in the series, Disgaea D2, was released in commemoration of the series’ 10th anniversary. Let’s take a look at a brief introduction to the game.

The story of Disgaea D2 takes place after the events of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, the first game in the series. Similar to Hour of Darkness, Laharl, son of the demon king, is again the protagonist. He is joined by two more familiar characters: Etna, who gained popularity as the heroine and is also seen later in the series, and Angel Trainee Flonne. Fans can enjoy the slapstick antics of this trio from Hour of Darkness.

The basic system and the game’s flow are no different from the other games in the series so far, so fans will feel right at home. Additions to the game system include new moves such as “piggybacking” and “collaboration techniques,” female heavy knights, Laharl becoming a woman, and a full load of other enjoyable, new mechanics.
