Katsuhiro Otomo’s Short Animation “Combustible” in Theaters This July

The animated short film “Combustible” directed by Katsuhiro Otomo will be in theaters nationwide on July 20 as part of an omnibus animated movie of four films, Short Peace.

For Otomo, it has been nine years since one of his works, the last being Steamboy, has been in theaters. “Combustible” won the Grand Prix for the animation division at the 16th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2012 and is highly acclaimed. The other three films of Short Peace are “Tsukumo” by Shuhei Morita, “Gambo” by Hiroaki Ando, and “A Farewell To Arms” by Hajime Katoki.

Otomo is featured in Comme des Garcon’s 2013 direct mail, and the cover of the first issue shows an illustration of the main characters Shotaro Kaneda and Kei from the famous manga Akira.
