An art exhibition devoted to the virtual singing idol Hatsune Miku kicked off on March 9 in Tokyo's "Electric Town" - Akihabara.

The date is referred to as Miku no Hi (Miku's Day), a pun on three and nine, which are pronounced in Japanese as mi and ku, respectively.

The exhibition runs until April 7 in the official shop of the Tokyo Anime Center on the fourth floor of the UDX building near JR Akihabara Station. The venue is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is closed on Mondays. Admission is free.

The art event celebrates the release of a new Precious Memories strategic collectible card game featuring Hatsune Miku. Illustrations used for the cards are on display at the venue, with related goods also on sale.

The Precious Memories game has previously featured characters from K-On! Sunshine Sketch, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and other popular anime titles.

Players can combine characters of their choice to play the game.

In addition to the art exhibition, a card game competition is planned.

Hatsune Miku is the persona of Crypton Future Media Inc.'s song synthesizer application of the same name.

Many users have shared their works through video-sharing websites, helping the virtual idol become popular across the world.

Many related items and CDs were released in 2012 to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Hatsune Miku.
