
Garo: Soukoku no Maryu, a movie using cutting edge VFX, was released on Feb. 23. As a promotion for the movie, a huge poster was unveiled in Tokyo on Feb. 6, catching the eyes of everyone in town who saw it.
The poster featured the Demon Dragon flying over waves of sand. It spanned 12.2 meters and was displayed on a large wall at the Shinjuku Wald 9. Also, a 14.5 meter poster of the Demon Dragon was installed on Feb. 18 on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line and the Shinjuku Metro Promenade. Both were used to raise anticipation for the movie.
Garo started in 2005 as a late-night special effects TV drama. It was supported by fans due to its unique world. Garo: Soukoku no Maryu is the second movie in the series. It has gotten a high amount of attention even overseas, and it was released simultaneously in both Japan and Taiwan.
Before the release of the movie, director Keita Amemiya visited Taiwan to promote the movie, which became widely talked about. Also, comments from manga artists, such as Masakazu Katsura, and other celebrities supporting the series were released.
