It was announced that the latest anime in the Ghost in the Shell series, Ghost in the Shell: Arise, will be broken up into four parts. Part one of the anime, titled “Border:1 Ghost Pain,” will be released on June 22 in theaters and on paid distribution services. A limited release of the movie will be screened for two weeks at Toho Cinemas Roppongi Hills, Shinjuku Wald 9, and other theaters throughout Japan.
On Feb. 12, at the production presentation for Ghost in the Shell: Arise at Nicofarre, it was also announced that the limited edition of the Blu-ray for part one, which will be released on July 26, will go on sale in advance in theaters.
Furthermore, the cast for the movie was announced. One point to note is that the main character, Kusanagi Motoko, will be played by Maaya Sakamoto, who played a young Kusanagi in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
