Many know Super Sonico as being the mascot character for the PC game maker Nitroplus. However, in much the same way as Hatsune Miku, her popularity has made her cross over from being a mere mascot to being a symbol for moe culture. This is evidenced by the extreme diversity of Super Sonico related items. Everything from figures to dolls, stuffed animals to CDs, and even cycling jerseys are being made using Super Sonico as the theme. Having such a wide lineup of goods is only propelling her popularity even more. Now, two more items are being added to the lineup.
The first is the “Super Sonico Collab Rolltop 2 Way Backpack” (15,750 yen). This backpack is a collaboration between Super Sonico and Animation Addict Store’s original brand, You’re Such a Nard. It is themed around 80’s pop and features bright colors and a cute graphic of Super Sonico. This backpack is being made-to-order until Mar. 8. After this date, it will no longer be made, so this is definitely a rare item that any Super Sonico fan should get their hands on before it’s gone.
The next item is a smartphone touch pen “Ita!ch Pen” (200 yen each). Those with a good sense of otaku wisdom certainly know the pun behind the name. The pens feature a variety of Super Sonico illustrations that fans will want to collect all of at lightning speed. They also come with an attached earphone jack strap. They are being sold now in capsule vending machines throughout Japan.
