Filmmaker Anno Shared His Love of Space Battleship Yamato with its Director Izubuchi!

“Space Battleship Yamato 2199 Tappuri Yamatalk Night - Chapter 4” was held on Jan. 22, 2013, at Shinjuku Piccadilly in Tokyo in conjunction with the Jan. 12th theatrical release of the fourth chapter of the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 series, “Defense of the Galactic March”.

The guest of the evening was Hideaki Anno. Known for directing Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, Anno was in charge of the storyboard for the opening sequence of Space Battleship Yamato 2199.

Over the course of an hour, Anno talked about his deep love of Yamato with Space Battleship Yamato 2199 director Yutaka Izubuchi. For him, “Yamato was an electrifying series.” When asked about their favorite characters, Izubuchi responded with Desler, and Anno said Captain Okita and Yuki Mori.”

A special theatrical release of the fifth chapter of Space Battleship Yamato 2199, titled “The Redolence of Intergalactic Space”, is set to begin on April 13. With episodes also set to air on TV beginning in April, the series looks like it will be making waves in 2013 as well.
