Eva Shrine Campaign Comes to a Close

On Dec. 26, 2012, the “Eva Unit 01 Reinforcement Project”, a promotional tour for the new Evangelion movie, came to a close with the building and dedication of an Eva Shrine in Tokyo Skytree Town. A full report of the event can be found on Nico Nico Live, but we have outlined it for you below.

The “Eva Unit 01 Reinforcement Project” began on Nov. 17 as a collaboration between the movie Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo and Nico Nico Live. A two meter tall replica of Eva Unit 01 was created for the promotion and it was taken to theaters around the Tokyo area along with the Nico Nico Eva Barrage Spec Car as part of a provincial tour. The promotion ended with the replica being dedicated at the Eva Shrine in Tokyo Skytree Town.

The Eva Shrine was open until Dec. 30. During that time, Evangelion fans from all over Japan made a pilgrimage to the shrine. Even students busy studying for entrance exams made the journey.

The popularity of Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo is still increasing, and even though it was released over three months ago, it shows no signs of slowing down.
