Kaito continues searching for the Kimijima reports in order to find the connection between Misaki and Kimijima Ko. Later, Doc is hospitalized after becoming ill. Jun goes to pay him a visit, but he refuses to see her.
Doc announces that he will be closing his robot shop, and Jun resigns from the Robotics Club. Akiho decides to rebuild the old robots in Doc’s store in order to cheer him up, and develops a plan to get the robot store up and running again.
From the official episode guide:
In the wake of Doc being hospitalized, it is revealed that Jun has a phobia of robots, which has strained her relationship with Doc, who is her grandfather.
Originally a technician in a space-related field, Doc went on to open a robot shop intended for kids. However, an incident occurred one day between Jun and a robot, and she developed a phobia of them. Being the cause of Jun’s anguish, Doc decided to distance himself from the robots he loved. Once Kaito and Akiho learn all of this, they decide to fix all of Doc’s old robots at his shop to surprise him.
Seeing his robots brought back to life before his eyes brings Doc to tears. Jun is also able to mend their relationship when she says, “They are still a bit scary, but I have come to like them.”
Although this episode didn’t see any advancement in the series’ main story, it provides crucial backstory on both Jun and Doc: two characters who are invaluable to the Robotics Club. However, those who have played the Robotics;Notes game no doubt know what lies ahead next time regarding the Kimijima report. Don’t miss the next episode.
