On Dec. 11, 2012, NAMCO BANDAI Games (NBG) announced that it has surpassed 30 million registered users for its social games. NBG has been strengthening its social games since 2011. In January 2012, registered users reached 10 million, and in one year’s time, this number rose by more than 20 million.
To meet the demand for social games, NBG proactively enlarged its business and began releasing social games utilizing popular characters. The number of registered users increased due to this, and NBG forecasts that this number will continue to increase.
Among its social games, Gundam has had a huge impact. Among NBG’s total number of registered users, around 24 million are from the games Gundam Royale, Gundam Masters, and Gundam Card Collection. NBG’s other social games, One Piece Grand Collection and THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls have 8 million and 2.5 million registered users respectively. The popularity of these games is evidence of each series’ immense popularity.
