Over the last few years, Japan has seen the arrival of an unprecedented idol boom. In the middle of this, a game encompassing the idol motif, The Idolm@ster, was released. Now, the series has acquired a large fan following and has crossed into other media, such as anime.
The Idolm@ster is also in the middle of its own boom with its social game The Idolm@ster: Cinderella Girls. The service, which started in 2011, recently passed its one year anniversary. Even though only one year has passed, the game has acquired many fans and become a popular social game.
Character CDs debuting popular characters from the game have also been released. So far, two waves of CDs have been released, one in April 2012 and one in August 2012. With each wave, five CDs were released. Every one of the 10 CDs that have been released thus far have placed in the Oricon Top 15 chart. Now, the third wave of CDs is set to release on Jan. 23, 2013.
Making their debut this time are five more characters including the character who splendidly makes the Cinderella Girls’ first rank seat her own, Totoki Airi. These girls are sure to leave a huge impact on music charts once more.
