On Dec. 11, 2012, a huge event for the anime Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse called “The Memorial Night 2013 Powered by Muv-Luv” was held at the Nippon Budokan in Japan. Many artists who have performed theme songs for both Total Eclipse and the original work Muv-Luv, including Minami Kuribayashi, Granrodeo, Aki Misato, and Ayami, all participated in the event. Furthermore, everyone who attended the event received the limited Total Eclipse DVD Vol. 0.
The DVD is packed with content including unreleased footage of talk events from before the broadcast of the TV anime, which serves as a prologue to the anime’s broadcast, as well as footage from the Los Angeles premiere which was held on July 1, 2012.
During the recent event in Japan, a special lottery also took place for those who purchased Vol. 1 or Vol. 2 of the DVD or Blu-ray of the anime. Winners were given the chance to attend a special live talk event with the cast (Mai Nakahara, Hitomi Nabatame, Sakura Nogawa, Sayaka Ohara, Kaori Ishihara, and Hisako Kanemoto) as well as a concert of the theme songs. Winners who attended the event also received special trading cards featuring new characters from the series.
