Mattsun Makes Unbelievably Cool Latte Art for TokyoOtakuMode! [3/3]

Recently in Japan, a trend has been growing in the world of latte art to use milk foam to create 3D images. However, since Mattsun is persistent on challenging the potential of 2D latte art, he likes to make the milk foam softer. On his trip to our editorial department, he brought his favorite espresso machine and cups, and at our request drew latte art of several characters including Luffy from One Piece and Hatsune Miku. While looking at his smartphone for reference, he created the work with surreal speed and grace, finishing it in about a minute. Even if they were just rough drafts, they still must have been difficult.

Well, once we were done photographing the finished lattes, drinking them was...interesting!
We couldn’t help but notice the character’s face started swaying as we were drinking our lattes and we wanted to laugh! However, sip after sip the character’s face remained and did not collapse. When we were almost finished, Mattsun said that the remainder isn’t tasty and may be cold. Disagreeing, we drank it anyway and it was delicious. Overall, it was quite the experience!

Since his first part-time job at 18 and even up until now at 23, he continues to do latte art. In the future, he would like to open his own cafe, but first he wants to challenge himself by opening a mobile cafe! We wish him the best of luck!
