Cosplayers from Onigiri Project are looking into expanding overseas! As a matter of fact, Yui, the president of Onigiri, will be the leader of the cosplayer group YUIMINO+ and will perform live in Germany in May 2013! What do they have planned for Germany? We’re sure it is something definitely worth looking forward to! After over 20 years of prosperity, the business of cosplay is still developing, and Yui is at the forefront of it! Did you know in 1991 there was only about 200 cosplayers at Comic Market? By 1997, that number grew to about 8000! Even today, cosplay is still thriving! Here’s the latest on Onigiri.
On 2 December 2012 in Akasaka, Tokyo, Ongiri sponsored the Onigiri Cosplay Collection exhibition. Similar to their last event, The Road to Onicos, cosplayers had a great time putting on a masquerade, fashion show, and participating in discussions exploring the future of cosplay.
Not only were the discussions groundbreaking, but also the cosplay. Often times cosplayers cannot hold and publicize cosplay events like this due to needing permission from the copywriters of the original content. However, this event received official permission and the cosplay was amazing! Both the cosplayers and the audience had a great time.
