Spin-off Star

Those of you who are only familiar in passing of Hasbro's My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (or those who know nothing about it at all) may be slightly confused as to who this girl is. After all, the Mane 6 have already all been released, and as much as I ask for it, Kotobukiya hasn't announced any intention to make the more popular background characters.
So who in Equestria is this girl?

This is Sunet Shimmer, the villain-and-then-main-character of the spin-off series Equestria Girls. She was Princess Celestia's student before Twilight, but she decided she was better than what she was being offered and betrayed Celestia and escaped into the human world--where ...

Don't Look Closely

Let's start with the good. She's adorable. The face, and pose, the little cat ears (the outfit, which let's be real here, yes!). Her curves are great and her eyes have a nice shine to them, adding to the cute little blush she has going on. I was super excited to get her and immediately took her out of the box--which is a cool box. Cushion lined and everything. Never seen a figure shipped in such an upstanding box before.

Now, maybe I got a bad model, but I noticed a few things that are not up to standard for this price. The first is that she arrived broken. The two little tassels on her right hip (check the picture for the indents) were broken off. This, in turn, drew...

Azarath Metrion Zinthos!

As if the title could possibly be anything else.

This is Raven from Teen Titans. I first became aware of her from the cartoon back in the early 2000s, and as you can tell, this is NOT that version of her. Her outfit is different, she's taller, has a more adult body (look at those curves), and perhaps the biggest difference is she is white, not grey-skinned. So, what's going on here?

Surprise, this is how Raven originally looked, all the way back in 1980. Does that mean she looks bad? Of course not. While her outfit is extremely simple in terms of color--it's just a bunch of blue--it works for her. Her cloak flows around her body and down her back, giving the ...

Cat Girls

I don't know what it is with Japan dressing up girls in cat outfits, but I'm not complaining. I think they look great, and Yozora is no exception.

Yozora is one of the main characters from "Haganai: I Don't Have Many Friends" and she's...pretty much a brat. Usually characters like her eventually soften and warm up, but we're coming up on issue 13 here and she's still as prickly as ever.

Her outfit is classic cat girl style. The top covers what it needs to, but you're still getting a good look at her--and the detail from the side view is...impressive. Her outfit hugs her body nicely, going so far as to display her belly button a...

Lovely School Uniform

I will be honest: I know next to nothing about Miyuki Shiba here. I know she's from "The Irregular at Magic High School", the sister of the main character, and the title character in "The Honor Student at Magic High School" spin off. When I bought her, that was all I knew. I have since read "Honor Student" so I know a bit more about her--like she has a borderline infatuation for her brother--but I'm hardly an expert on her. So why did I buy here?

Because she's stunning. The green in her jacket only compliments her stunning blue eyes. She has a gentle smile on her face that is sure to make plenty of boys and girls stop and take a breath. ...

Newest Strike Witch

Yoshika Miyafuji is the newest member of the elite 501st Strike Witch Unit, from the anime, "Strike Witches". She's still got a ways to go before she catches up to the other girls, but she's making progress because this is her second Striker, the Shinden, a Striker she mastered is one shot.
Speaking of the Striker, the propellers come in two types: solid blue circles as seen in the pictures (giving the impression that they're spinning) or actual propellers. To switch them, carefully pull the bottom of the Striker legs off and pop them on. Don't yank!

This statue is made by Volks, so it's a bit lighter than other Strike Witches figures, but it...

Railgun Bunny!

So, Shirai is probably suffering from a nose bleed right now. And if she's not, then it means Mikoto has already blasted her to dust, because the only way the Railgun is going to be wearing this outfit is if Shirai is dreaming about it.

This is Mikoto Misaka, a character from "A Certain Magical Index" and main character of the spin-off, "A Certain Scientific Railgun" and, as I'm sure you can tell, she's wearing a bunny suit. And does it look great on her. The detail on the actual outfit is very plain, but that works in its favor. The red ties at her hips, as well as the red bow tie around her neck, really catch your eye because the contrast. And w...
