Find your way to the King’s Chamber in the Mask of Anubis board game! It’s designed for between 2 and 7 players and takes between 30 and 60 minutes to play.

One player goes through a maze trying to find the King’s Chamber while the remaining players create a map based on that player’s descriptions. What makes that awesome, though, is that the maze-wanderer wears a VR Anubis Mask and actually sees the maze around them! All you need to do is download the app on your phone and you’re good to go!

The Quest for Treasure

Rumor has it that the unexcavated pyramid which you (Professor B.Gammon) have discovered houses the King’s Chamber, which contains the riches of Ancient God Anubis. Together with your assistant Seneto, you attempt to navigate the ancient pyramid maze to locate the treasure. Unfortunately, the entrance is only barely large enough for your trusty dog Ludo to enter.
Unable to enter the maze yourself, you have to choice but to borrow the powers of the Mask of Anubis. The artefact grants you vision of the maze, which you must use to guide Ludo towards the treasure. Will your visions lead you to the riches of Anubis, or will your partner be lost forever in the ancient maze? Put on the mask and begin!

Basics of the Game

All players will work together as a single team to complete the ancient map of the pyramid maze. One player will start by equipping the VR Goggles (the Mask of Anubis) with the smartphone attached, which gives them a 360° view of their surroundings inside the maze. Without removing the VR Goggles, the player “inside” the maze must accurately describe their surroundings to other players, who will construct the map based on the information they receive. Each player only has one minute with the VR Goggles at a time. Every minute counts as a turn, and after a player’s turn is up, the screen will fade to darkness, and they must pass the VR Goggles to another player. Each player will enter a different part of the maze, as the location resets after every turn. In seven turns, the team must complete the ancient map that guides them to the Treasure of Anubis.

Strategies for Success

Communicate When Plotting

As players make their way through the maze, they should describe the details of their surroundings as clearly as possible. This will help their teammates, who will be using Map Tiles and Item Chips to plot the map. Of course, questions to the player in the maze are allowed and encouraged!

Comparing Carefully

After a player removes the VR Goggles, they should compare the map plotted by their teammates with their memories of the maze. This process will be repeated seven times, as the team is allowed seven turns inside the maze. Will you trust your memories, or put your faith in your team? Your decision could be the difference.

Finding the Treasure of Anubis

In a total of seven turns inside the maze, players must create a complete map that leads to the assumed location of the Treasure of Anubis. Once this process is complete, simply remove the smartphone from the VR Goggles, and follow the audio guide to see if your team has reached the Treasure, or if you are lost for eternity inside the ancient maze.
