Set in the town of Iwatobi, Free! follows the members of the Iwatobi Swim Club including Haruka Nanase, Makoto Tachibana, Nagisa Hazuki, and Rei Ryugazaki. Through competitions, rivalries, training, and overcoming personal problems as a team, they form an incredible bond.

This wildly popular sports drama is based on the 2013 light novel by Koji Oji, High Speed. Following the initial anime adaptation by Kyoto Animation directed by Hiroko Utsumi, it has since received additional anime film and series adaptations in addition to radio shows and drama CDs.
