The second film for popular San-X franchise Sumikko Gurashi is set to hit theaters in Japan this November under the title Sumikko Gurashi the Movie: Aoi Tsukiyo no Maho no Ko!
The new teaser visual shows the Sumikko characters snuggled up in bed while the light of a blue moon shines through their window.
Takahiro Omori ( Natsume’s Book of Friends ) will take over as director for the sequel with a script by Reiko Yoshida ( Violet Evergarden ) and Fanworks producing.
The sequel film's plot will once again revolve around strange events occurring in the town where the Sumikko Gurashi characters live.
Originally created as a collection of characters who feel most comfortable when safe in a corner, Sumikko Gurashi received its first animated film in 2019, titled Sumikko Gurashi the Movie: The Pop-up Book and the Secret Child.
Sumikko Gurashi the Movie: Aoi Tsukiyo no Maho no Ko opens at cinemas across Japan in November 2021.
