Delight Friends and Relatives with New Year's Postcards Featuring Traditional Ink Paintings of the Infamous Matsuno Sextuplets!

In Japan, sending out New Year's postcards is serious business, and it can also be seriously time consuming. Luckily, the Sumaho de Nengajo 2017 ( Smartphone New Year's Postcards 2017 ) smartphone app and the Net de Nengajo 2017 (Online New Year's Postcards 2017) website are here to make the entire process from designing postcards to sending them in the post much easier and much more fun!

Connectit Inc. is the company behind these handy services, and they've teamed up with Pierrot Co., Ltd.'s Osomatsu-san anime series (which aired from 2015 to 2016) to create a range of New Year's postcards featuring traditional ink paintings of Osomatsu-san characters. The Osomatsu-san New Year's postcards were released on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, and they're the perfect way to send unique New Year's greetings to family and friends in 2017.

The Osomatsu-san anime series was created to celebrate the 80th birthday of Fujio Akatsuka, the creator of the Osomatsu-kun manga series. Osomatsu-san was broadcast 27 years after the Osomatsu-kun anime series finished airing, and it's proved to be a massive hit! Not only is the anime series itself extremely popular, but sales of related products have also been huge. The Osomatsu-san New Year's postcards with their specially drawn ink painting designs of the Matsuno sextuplets are available for purchase on the Sumaho de Nengajo 2017 app and the Net de Nengajo 2017 website.

Since the Osomatsu-kun series, the Matsuno brothers have grown up, and the designs of these New Year's postcards feature the adult Matsuno brothers getting in the New Year's spirit. Each card features a New Year's message that's bursting with the unique personality of one of the sextuplets, and each message is written using traditional Japanese brush calligraphy. Spice up your 2017 New Year's greetings with infectious Osomatsu-san style!

To fully capture the essence of traditional Japanese New Year's celebrations, the illustrations featured on these postcards are by Takumi Yoza, a suiboku (ink wash) painter and illustrator and member of the Bokusenkai association of suiboku painters, while the calligraphy is by the calligrapher and designer Megumi Hioki.
