Haikyu!! is a wildly popular volleyball manga serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump with more than 20 million volumes printed. Its live stage adaptation has drawn in fans through its cast’s powerful performances in a number of cities during both the November 2015 shows and the following shows in April 2016. The currently showing Karasuno, Revival! show is also a huge success, and in honor of its final performance on Dec. 4, there will be huge concluding festivities including a live viewing in theaters in 47 prefectures nationwide in Japan.

Now, there will be a new show in the spring of 2017 called Hyper Projection Play Haikyu!!: Winners and Losers opening in Tokyo, Miyagi, Osaka, and Fukuoka!

Details including a main visual, the cast, and performance dates were revealed in the new issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump that went on sale on Nov. 28!

The visual makes it easy to imagine the fierce fight between Karasuno High and the champions of Aobajousai and raises the anticipation for the new performance. Kenta Suga has shown a lot of acting and athletic talent since his first performance as protagonist Shoyo Hinata of Karasuno. His rival and the “King of the Court,” the genius player Tobio Kageyama, will be played by Tatsunari Kimura who attracts the audience with his undeniable stage presence. The cast of Karasuno High has been carried over from before, so we can look forward to seeing their continually growing teamwork. Toru Oikawa, the captain of Aobajousai and Kageyama’s upperclassman from junior high school, will be played by Kosuke Asuma, who will be making his debut in this role. Vice-captain of Aobajousai will be played by Allen Kohatsu, who will be very active on stage. A fascinating cast and talented creators from a variety of fields have been brought together. ■ Comments from the Director and Cast About the New Work
**Wally Kinoshita, Director and Screenplay Writer:**
“At last, we’ll see what comes of Karasuno vs. Aobajousai. This play shows the winners and losers, confrontation of setters, regulars and substitutes, the final match, mind games, past traumas, trying out new techniques, and, of course, sports, volleyball, and the best of adolescence. You can still expect the hyper performance and play, but we’ll also give you a chance to experience a world you can’t find outside of the stage adaptation of Haikyu!!. I hope you come see it.”

Kenta Suga, Shoyo Hinata of Karasuno High:
“A new show has already been announced! The title is Winners and Losers. Even when I first read this myself, I felt a shock at how big of a match this was. On one hand I’m looking forward to figuring out how to depict it, but on the other, it’s not easy to figure out how to raise that hurdle. I hope that we show you a new side of the stage adaptation of Haikyu!!. Please come see it!!”

Tatsunari Kimura, Tobio Kageyama of Karasuno High:
*Hyper Projection Play Haikyu!!: Winners and Losers*. I’ve continued thinking more and more about this role, and the cast and staff all share this feeling of wanting to make a great show, and I want to share a new work with everyone. This is another game that makes Kageyama impatient, so it may be hard, but Sugawara helps him, and there’s a scene which leaves you wondering how that affects the game, so even I’m excited to see what kind of play this ends up being.”

Kosuke Asuma, Toru Oikawa of Aobajousai High:
“The interhigh battle with Karasuno is finally here. I’m very happy to finally be able to play in the match with everyone in Aobajousai. I want to believe in everyone and pull together our strengths to beat Karasuno and dominate the court. I want everyone to see the connection between Oikawa and Tobio, too. There’s a lot of pressure, but I want to make this an even bigger play than before, and I hope everyone cheers us on.”

Allen Kohatsu, Hajime Iwaizumi of Aobajousai High:
“I’m very happy to be playing Hajime Iwaizumi again. Myself and Asuma represented Aobajousai during the last play while we analyzed the game. During that time, I wanted to hurry up and compete against them. I’m glad that we now have the members of Aobajousai together, with Toru Oikawa first on that list, and we get to play against Karasuno High. I hope that we’re able to pull together a truly strong team and take them on full strength. We’ll beat Karasuno and control the court.”
