With the new CG movie Gantz: O hitting Japanese theaters on Oct. 14, Bandai is accepting orders for their life-size X-Gun model, a piece of standard equipment shown throughout the series, on Oct. 14, the very day of the movie’s release, from 4:00 p.m. To make it even cooler, the “Master Product Gantz: O X-Gun” comes with light, movement, and sound gimmicks featured in the movie!
In Hiroya Oku’s popular sci-fi action manga Gantz, dead people are forced to hunt down mysterious aliens lurking on Earth with the help of advanced technology and weapons, such as the X-Gun, which is included in a Gantz player’s standard equipment. Although also present in the original series, Oku slightly refined the design for the upcoming movie Gantz: O (Nurarihyon Alien Arc from the manga), which is now faithfully recreated in a life-size version measuring roughly 250 millimeters.
The X-Gun has a broad, cylindrical barrel and is equipped with two triggers, one for locking the target and one for firing. It gets its name from the “X” shape seen during firing when the outer part of the barrel opens up. It also has the display panel on the back complete with the function to lock onto targets within its range.
To mimic the original, it is equipped with more than 30 LEDs powered by three AAA batteries (not included in the set) that light up upon activating or pulling the trigger, and your actions are accompanied by the same sound effects as the movie. It also opens and lights up when pulling the trigger, so you can recreate your favorite action scenes to your heart’s content.
In addition, it runs out of ammo upon firing three times and enters charge mode, during which time the LEDs turn red, and you won’t be able to fire it. The display panel on the back lights up as well, displaying whether the target is in or outside your range. All you need to do is insert the display sheet included with the gun, and you will have a perfect, working replica (except the lethal energy beam part, of course) to experience the world of Gantz: O with!
