The whole process of temperature-taking is about to become a whole lot cuter thanks to A&D Company Ltd., a manufacturer of medical equipment. Their newest product, releasing Oct. 21, is an adorable non-contact thermometer designed to look like the mascot Kumamon!

■ Non-Contact Thermometer
A&D released their first non-contact thermometer on July 1, 2015. Since then, total sales have broken past the 100,000 mark. This type of thermometer has been increasingly popular recently, especially among parents and children. This is due to the fact that it reads temperatures almost instantaneously without physical contact, for a process that’s quick and safe with no additional stress for either party.

■ Product Highlights
1. Produces a speedy and accurate temperature reading within 1 second - simply hold over the forehead and turn the thermometer on.
2. Eliminates the need for reading temperatures by armpit or mouth.
3. Eliminates the need to disturb babies and children from their sleep before taking their temperature.
4. Eliminates the chance of spreading more germs with its non-contact format.
<Recommended For>
・If your mornings are extremely hectic
・If your children are on the fussier side
・If you hate the feeling of sticking cold thermometers in your mouth or armpit
■ Kumamon Design
Non-contact thermometers are often used in hospitals, nursing homes, and schools. In these types of settings, reading the temperatures of many people in a short amount of time can be crucial. A&D’s hope is that the friendly design will appeal to everyone, regardless of age or gender. They estimate that it’ll be so popular, they’ll surpass 100,000 sales within the first year! And since Kumamon is a mascot of the Kumamoto Prefecture, a portion of the proceeds will go towards the Kumamoto Earthquake Relief Fund.
