If you love sweet treats and also the incredibly popular Vocaloid Hatsune Miku, you can indulge both of your passions at the same time at the Sweets Paradise Ueno ABAB store from Monday, Sept. 12 until Thursday, Sept. 29! Sweets Paradise has teamed up with the PlayStation 4 software Hatsune Miku Project DIVA X HD to create a pop-up cafe filled with Hatsune Miku-inspired delights.
The game's producer, Seiji Hayashi, and Sega's official Hatsune Miku mascot character Mikunano visited the store and sampled items from the menu. Even though they visited the Sweets Paradise Ueno ABAB store on a Monday morning, when you'd imagine things to be pretty quiet, crowds of fans were lining up out of the door. With the unexpected arrival of Mikunano, the store was filled with screams of excitement.
Collaboration Menu
You can order items from the collaboration menu for an extra ¥650 (including tax) on top of the store's all-you-can-eat option. You get to choose either a meal or a dessert plus one drink. When you order from the collaboration menu, you also get an original sticker! There are 11 to collect and you'll receive one at random. The collaboration menu includes "Miku's Fuwafuwa Omurice," "Miku's Atsuatsu Stew," "Miku's Mochimochi Peperoncino," "Rin & Len's Pancakes," "Luka's Mini Parfait," and "Kaito & Meiko's Shaved Ice." There are six drinks to choose from, and each is based on a different character and also contains tapioca for that summer feeling. The menu was developed with a focus on Miku's colour scheme, so you can expect to see plenty of fabulous turquoise treats!
Game Producer Seiji Hayashi and Mikunano's Food Report
The food sampling started with drinks, and when asked what she thought, Mikunano drew a huge heart in her sketchbook to show exactly how delicious it was. Hatsune Miku Project DIVA X HD's producer Seiji Hayashi seemed to really enjoy "Miku's Fuwafuwa Omurice," saying, "It looks vivid and bright but it's got a delicious, delicate taste! I think women would really like it, too." Mikunano tried "Rin & Len's Pancakes" and drew a musical note in her sketchbook to show how happy and blissful she felt after enjoying this tasty treat.
After trying "Miku's Mochimochi Peperoncino," Mikunano drew a hanamaru (a flower circle often used to mark excellent school work) to express how impressed she was with the collaboration menu.
After sampling the menu, Mr. Hayashi and Mikunano introduced the original stickers that customers receive when they order from the collaboration menu. The food sampling session ended with Mr. Hayashi saying, "When I was making the game, I never even imagined that this kind of collaboration would ever happen. I'm really happy that so many customers have come to the cafe since early this morning. The collaboration menu features an amazing variety of items inspired by each character, so it would be great if fans could visit a few times and enjoy different items."
