Synopsis:
In this exhibition, the story of Alice in Wonderland recreated by contemporary artists comes to life on screen, accompanied by the heartwarming tones of antique music boxes. Now you can enjoy the magical world of Through the Looking-Glass through emullenuett’s sand art!

Times:
10:30 a.m. ~ 4:30 p.m. with one performance every hour starting at half past the hour.
Each performance is about 15 minutes long.
*Performances are included in the entry fee; no additional tickets are necessary.*

Through the Looking-Glass follows Alice climbing through a magical mirror into yet another fantastical world. The story was written in the 19th century, so it’s only fitting the exhibition aims to recreate the atmosphere of the period with automatic musical instruments such as musical boxes that were developed and lived their golden age during that time. It is a unique collaboration between contemporary artists and antique instruments that is exclusive to the Rokko International Musical Box Museum, so be sure to come see if you have the chance!

■ emullenuett’s Profile
A sand art duo consisting of Tomoe Shimizu and Erika Suda, emullenuett has performed at the Japanese-French cultural exchange project Soyeux Destins (Lyon City Hall, France) connected with the Tomioka Silk Mill (now a World Heritage Site), events held at Tomioka Silk Mill, Tokyo Sweets Collection, and together with vocalist & violinist Sarah Àlainn (also known as Sarah Lim).
Through the use of sand and moving in a captivating symmetry, they create strange, magical worlds in their performances, videos, and illustrations.
