Can You Take on This Despair? Experience the Mystery of Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School in Tokyo, Osaka & Nagoya Beginning This September!

A massive collaboration is being set up with the riddle-solving game Zettai Zetsumei Zetsubou Kibou Royal and Yomiuri TV Enterprise for the currently-airing anime Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School - Despair Arc! This event will stop in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya beginning on Sept. 17.

The anime Danganronpa 3 is a part of the Hope’s Peak High School series and the concluding entry of the Danganronpa franchise which has unfolded through video games until now. This has been a standout for the industry as the Despair Arc is airing simultaneously with the Future Arc. Each story is related, so this unusual setup has garnered a lot of attention from fans.

This event is set up as the prologue to the Despair Arc. Participants enter Hope’s Peak High School as reserve course students and take on the “Zetsubou no Minagoroshi Shiken,” or Hopeless Massacre Exam. This has been long-awaited for the riddle-loving fans of Zettai Zetsumei Zetsubou Kibou Royal events.

■ Story
You take on the role of a new reserve course student at Hope’s Peak High School. The “reserve course” is similar to regular courses, but even students without much talent can enter as long as they can afford it. For some, though, being compared to students of regular courses gives birth to an inferiority complex and makes it a living hell. In such a situation, you’re invited somewhere by a certain someone and are forced to take an exam. If you fail, there will be a massacre. You’re told that you can’t refuse. Once you’ve found yourself in this mix of despair and hope, will you be able to make it out of this game alive?

■ Game Setup and Contents
You’ll compete with a team of six people at one table. Passwords and riddles will be set up around you, and you’ll be asked to solve a particular goal within a time limit. Including both videos and explanations, the game takes between 90 and 100 minutes.

About Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School
This story is comprised of the Future Arc of Super Danganronpa 2 and the Despair Arc of Danganronpa. Each can be seen as their own stories, but they’re entangled in a complex way, and Danganronpa 3 will bring you to the true ending of Hope’s Peak High School.

About Danganronpa
A group of top-class genius students are gathered from around the country and begin to kill each other in a closed space. In order to escape, they must kill one of their classmates and not get caught. If the other students aren’t able to figure out who the murderer is, they’ll be killed as punishment by the headmaster Monokuma. The high-speed murder mystery action game Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc was released in November 2011 and has players try to figure out inconsistencies and expose the murderer. The sequel, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, was released in July 2012 and received an anime adaptation in July 2013. There was then a stage performance adaptation in November 2014 and December 2015. There’s currently a compilation version called Danganronpa 1 & 2 Reload on sale for the PlayStation® Vita, as well as a spin-off called Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls. A third official game is expected to go on sale in 2016.
