Gunpla Expo World Tour Japan 2016 Summer will be held from Aug. 11-14 in Sunshine City, Ikebukuro! Themed around the world of the TV anime Gundam Build Fighters, here fans new and old can check out the latest items based on Gundam Build Fighters and Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, experience putting together plastic models, and take in stage events!
■ Exhibit Details
The theme this time is “step into the world of Gundam Build Fighters!” Commemorating the special program showcasing the charm of Gundam Build Fighters titled Gundam Build Fighters Try Natsuyasumi Tokubetsu-hen ~Kimi mo Build Fighter da!!~ (airing Aug. 21 on TV Tokyo and other networks beginning at 4:00 p.m.), this event is backed with exhibits and events for visitors to enjoy Gunpla (or Gundam plastic model kits)!
This event will include an exhibit of the latest items based on Gundam Build Fighters Try: Island Wars, as well as works for Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, the second season of which will air on Oct. 2 (Mondays at 5:00 p.m. on MBS/TBS and others)!
A huge number of other Gundam figures will be showcased in a variety of categories, as well, including some for Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin and Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096, as well as the 1/100 scale articulated brand MG and the 1/144 scale standard brand HG series.
A Space Capturing the World of Gundam Build Fighters
There will also be an exhibit which captures the look of Plavsky Particles which appear in Gundam Build Fighters using LEDs. And there will be a corner where you can experience the world using VR. The world of Gundam Build Fighters is being brought to you with lights and videos.
Original Gunpla Exhibit By Well-Known People: Gunpla Supporters 2016 Summer
Gunpla Supporters is a popular annual Gunpla original coloring event featuring a variety of famous people. It will be back with an exhibit showcasing a number of original Gunpla!
Top Gunpla Building Contest, Japanese Masterpieces Exhibit
This will showcase the definitive Japanese works from Bandai’s official Gunpla contest, the Gunpla Builders World Cup. Here you can enjoy the charm and depth of Gunpla building.
Limited Edition Goods on Sale
The “MG 1/100 Sazabi Ver. Ka Mechanical Clear” and “HGBF 1/144 Hi-ν Gundam Vrabe Amazing Ver. Crimson Comet” will make appearances, as well as various Gunpla that you can usually only buy at other events, making for an especially awesome lineup.
Special Gunpla Stage Events Also Planned
Before Gundam Build Fighters Try: Island Wars and the second season of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans there will be a special talk show featuring an exciting guest here! There will also be stage events packed with series following the theme of space including *Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096, as well as ones packed with Gunpla.
Enjoy Actually Building Gunpla in the Experience Event
Even beginners and children will be able to try putting together the “RX-78-2 Gundam Practice Building Ver.” at the Let’s Build Gunpla! practice building event. Afterwards, you’ll be able to take it home, too!

■ About Gundam Build Fighters
*Gundam Build Fighters* is a Gundam anime and was aired in 2013. In it, Gunpla Builders put together and customize their own Gunpla and compete in Gunpla Battles, and in doing so, it was able to inspire viewers to build their own models. It was followed by the sequel Gundam Build Fighters Try in 2014, and the third entry titled Gundam Build Fighters Try: Island Wars will air in August 2016.
