Gojyo Taxi is about to launch an all new itasha service from Aug. 12, 2016. This coincides with the first day of Comiket 90 which is held at Tokyo Big Sight (Tokyo International Exhibition Center, Ariake) and the car will be beginning its service in the surrounding area.
Background
Gojyo Taxi made an appearance earlier this year at the Nico Nico Chokaigi held from April 29 to 30, 2016. Under the title of “Chotaxi with Pronama-chan” (super taxi with Pronama-chan) Gojyo Taxi ran a booth featuring itasha taxis and cosplay photography, attracting over 5,000 visitors. The idea proved popular with many of the guests attending the event, who offered their support and said they’d love to see an itasha taxi out on the streets for real. And so, Gojyo has decided to start an itasha service!
These kinds of taxis are sure to become an ever more familiar sight to younger people (who are about to become much more excited about taxis).

The itasha taxi features IT company Programming Namahousou character Pronama-chan. The fare is exactly the same as a regular taxi.
Gojyo Taxi
Gojyo Taxi was founded in Sumida, Tokyo in 1955 and has been going strong ever since. In recent years they’ve been positively working towards raising the image of the taxi industry through setting up their own blog and releasing information via social networks.
In October 2015, Gojyo Taxi also launched the “Omoide Taxi” (nostalgic taxi) by introducing one traditional London black cab to its fleet. The company hopes to bring a whole new value to the taxi service which you can use for special occasions, weddings, and even travel.
In the future Gojyo Taxi plan to collaborate with other industries, make use of crowdfunding, and introduce even more innovative taxi services to their roster.
