Are you familiar with the playful savings box series Itazura Bank? Shine, the company making them is holding the Real Itazura Bank Photo & Movie Contest and they are the submission site to the public from July 15 so that everyone can see real-life Itazura Bank masterpieces with real kitties!
Itazura Bank started as a cute piggy bank depicting a tangerine box with a cat hiding inside who would peek out and take the money of its owner. This is what the present campaign aims to make real, and Shine received numerous photo and video submissions from cat owners showing their kitties playing with a cardboard box.
At this point it might not be news, but cats are taking over the world, which is also reflected in the booming “nekonomy” as the economic effect of cat-related goods including photo books and games is said to be around 2.3 trillion yen.
But that aside, we all know how cats like hiding in boxes, and cat owners from all over Japan recorded this cute feline habit with their own pets, mimicking the Itazura Bank. Be sure to check them out as they are sure to invite a chuckle or two!
