First-Ever Post Office Capsule Toys: Palm-Sized Yu-Pack Danboard Unveiled

First-Ever Post Office Capsule Toys: Palm-Sized Yu-Pack Danboard Unveiled

Famous capsule toy toymakers Takara Tomy Arts have announced a collaboration with Japan Post Service. The toy line is titled “Post Office Gacha Collection” and it will be available in capsule toy machines Japan-wide in early February.

It’s a given that those in Japan have used the Japan Post on at least on occasion. Well now things like the helmet post office workers wear and the service counter sign have been made into capsule toys. A bit different than their real-life counterparts, the postbox is themed after the panda from the Ueno Zoo in Tokyo, and even the popular character Danboard from Yotsuba&! is in the lineup as “Yu-Pack Danboard,” a collaboration with the postal service in 2014. Their quality is also impeccable. Even moreso than the great, miniature molds, they were thorough in getting the colors spot on with the real thing. Even the helmet and others with the same color have a different look due to the material used, and the real things were sampled for color as well. Other highlights include moving parts like the mail slot and collection door on the postbox, the visor on the helmet, and a light in the signboard. The lineup of capsule toys is full of playfulness.

Even with just these few, the “Post Office Gacha Collection” are toys that no doubt can’t help but be played with, and they’re likely to show popularity with those who like their highly generic nature in figure form. It’s safe to say the only limit to how you can play with these is your imagination.

The toys will be sold through capsule machines countrywide in general stores, big-box stores, and toy stores. The will also be available at certain JP Post and JP Lawson locations. They cost 300 yen each, so why not press your luck if you’re in Japan and happen to see one?
