On Dec. 8, a voting report was released for Sugoi Japan Award 2016 which will choose works from Japan’s pop culture to share with the world.
Sugoi Japan Award is Japan’s most prominent pop culture award in which fans themselves choose the winners by supporting the amazing works they think should be shared with people all over the world, not just in Japan. It is divided into four categories of Japanese works: anime, manga, light novels, and entertainment novels. This time, 92 works are open for voting.

The voting period for Sugoi Japan Award 2016 is running from Nov. 16, 2015 to Jan. 3, 2016. The final results will be announced on March 22, 2016 at the Sugoi Japan Award 2016 award ceremony, in the Yomiuri Shimbun, and on the official website. The winning works will also be released overseas.
Sugoi Japan Award was held for the first time last year, and in first place in the anime category was Puella Magi Madoka Magica, which, beginning in Japan during its late-night airing, cultivated fans all over the world including in Italy where it aired at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays. The anime also shined as the Grand Prix winner with the most votes across all categories. Also, Attack on Titan, which has stirred up a social phenomenon with anime, films, exhibits, and other diverse developments, was chosen as the clear winner of the manga category.
