Saint Seiya started serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) in December 1985. It became immensely popular due to its story of battles and friendship between boys wearing sacred armor called Cloth and its original world incorporating elements of Greek mythology.
In 1986, Toei Doga (now called Toei Animation) started a TV anime series that caused a huge social phenomenon with astounding sales of character figures and other toys. At present, Saint Seiya has two TV series, six theatricals, OVA series, and even web animations and is highly popular not only in Japan but also in Asia and Europe.
“Saint Seiya 30th Anniversary Exhibition: Complete Works of Saint Seiya” is an exhibition displaying all items related to the series including manga, anime, and figures. They are also planning on revealing new content for the exhibition and programs fans can enjoy together to make it an event becoming of a 30th anniversary. A special site was also opened coordinated with the announcement, and this is where they publish the latest news regarding the event.
In addition, Masami Kurumada’s newest work Saint Seiya: Next Dimension - The Myth of Hades resumed serialization in the January 2016 issue of Weekly Shonen Champion released on Dec. 3, allowing fans to enjoy a legitimate sequel.
