New functions that allows users to give illustrations movement and create anime were added to Celsys’ illustration and manga production software Clip Studio Paint on Oct. 27. By using these functions, users can draw consecutive still images and watch them come to life, giving creators an even wider range of expression. Those who already have the software don’t have to rebuy it to get the new functions either, they can update their existing software for free, meaning the use of these new functions will spread out all at once.
Clip Studio Paint was released in 2012 and is the premier illustration and manga production software in Japan used by more than 1 million people. The software’s myriad functions aren’t just suited for Japanese manga and illustrations though, they are also loved by creators all over the world. The newly added functions include a light table function and onion skin display. Users can now create animated pictures using a pen that offers smoothness and comfort. Users are also able to now see their images in a timeline and adjust the timing. With this superior software you can now even make anime.
In celebration of the new functions being implemented, an official event also started on Oct. 27 on the illustration site Pixiv titled “Let’s Make Pixiv-tan Move! Moving Illustration Contest” (Pixiv-tan o Ugokasou! Ugoira Contest). A present campaign is also in the works for those who buy the software. The “Let’s Make Pixiv-tan Move! Moving Illustration Contest” is accepting creations of Pixiv’s personified character, Pixiv-tan. All Pixiv Premium members can use Clip Studio Paint Debut for free.
A limited-time campaign is also on now that will end on Nov. 4 at 17:00 (JST). Those who purchase the downloadable version of Clip Studio Paint EX (includes upgrade from Pro to EX) will get a Clip Studio Paint EX Official Reference Book as a present. This is a great chance to get this guidebook that normally costs 2,300 yen for free. Also, those who follow Clip’s official Twitter and retweet the designated tweet will be entered in a raffle in which one winner will receive 550 cans of Red Bull.
