A trailer of the movie also began showing in theaters in Japan on Aug. 1. The film depicts a world in which the dead are brought back to life.

The main visual to The Empire of Corpses was drawn just for the occasion by original character designer redjuice. The visual shows four characters: main character John H. Watson, his friend Friday who follows him on his journeys, Frederick Barnaby, a captain in Great Britain’s army and Watson’s overseer, and a mysterious girl named Hadary Lilith whom Watson meets on his travels.
