Kyoma Mabuchi’s On the Move!

See Kyoma of the upcoming TV anime adaptation of Dimension W in action in new PV.

The popular manga Dimension W is set to be adapted into an anime. The series is a progressive sci-fi by Yuji Iwahara, serialized since 2011 in Young Gangan (Square Enix).
It’s a complex story set in 2072 AD with a large cast revolving around the fourth dimension called “W” and the “coil” which extracts infinite energy from it. With fans existing even overseas, it’s a highly anticipated anime project worldwide.

At the center of the story is Kyoma Mabuchi, working at a recovery store focused on collecting “illegal coil” obtained from outside lawful routes. Kyoma, a rather capable man but an eccentric who isn’t fond of coils, encounters a strange girl through a particular request. The mysterious girl, Mira, lived with a doctor by the name of Shido Yurizaki. Kyoma, who lost everything in the past in a coil incident, and Mira, searching for the answers to the secret of her birth, chase after the truth of “coil” together.

Information about the staff has also been released, and Kanta Kamei, who has worked on anime like Nanana’s Buried Treasure and Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend, will be working as the director. The series composition will be done by Shotaro Suga who has worked on The Seven Deadly Sins and My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU. Tokuyuki Matsutake, who was in charge of many anime cutscenes in the Tales of video game series, has been chosen for character design. Studio 3Hz and Orange will be working together on the animation production.

The first promotional video is already available on the public site. If you’re interested, you can also check out the character action scenes beginning with Kyoma.

Participation in the 54th Japan sci-fi convention, Comecon, at Yonago in Tottori Prefecture on Aug. 29 has also been arranged. There will be a discussion panel about the anime, and in addition to the author, Iwahara, Studio 3Hz producer Yuichiro Matsuie will also be attending. News about this anime is still limited, so important information might come out. Those planning to attend the event should go see it.
