An event is slated to be held for the movie Yowamushi Pedal the Movie releasing Japan-wide on Friday, Aug. 28. “Yowamushi Pedal the Movie Summer Festival 2015 in Tokyo Skytree” will be held for one month, from Aug. 1–31. The event will be held in Tokyo Solamachi’s official TV station shop and Tree Village. Because the movie will be released in late August, and because it’s the summer vacation season, many fans are anticipated to attend.
A special exhibit area will be set up at the event, and there will also be a stamp rally and more. Collaboration merchandise between Yowamushi Pedal and Tokyo Skytree will also be on sale. And since it’s a “summer festival,” there will also be character goods in a summer festival theme, and special food and drinks available in limited quantities. A large event such as this being held before the release of the movie is no doubt glad news for fans.
Yowamushi Pedal is a popular manga currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion (Akita Shoten). Forty volumes of the manga have been published, and the series has over 13 million copies in print. With the series gaining even more popularity because of the TV anime, it’s expanding even more to a movie adaptation. Yowamushi Pedal Re:Ride and Yowamushi Pedal Re:Road, re-edits of seasons 1 and 2 of the TV anime with newly added scenes, have also been released, and these as well have had favorable responses. With series author Wataru Watanabe penning an original story for the movie too, it’s gaining massive buzz.
