Popular sneaker label UBIQ has announced two pairs of collaborative footwear themed after sci-fi series Ghost in the Shell and Knights of Sidonia. The two shoes in the lineup are “Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie - Ghost in the Shell 25th Anniversary Model” and “Knights of Sidonia Guardian Pilot Model.”
The “Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie - Ghost in the Shell 25th Anniversary Model” is themed after the background cityscape drawn in the movie’s key visual. The heel counter uses a reflective material that lights up in the dark, and the shoelaces are studded with a shimmering lamé. The result is a pair of kicks that look like they belong in the virtual and sci-fi world of Ghost in the Shell. The shoes are covered in thoughtful details, like the movie’s logo arranged on the heel and “Ghost in the Shell 25th” embroidered on the tongue.
The “Knights of Sidonia Guardian Pilot Model” is themed after the design of the boots worn by main character Nagate Tanikaze and other Guardian pilots. The boot theme is recreated using black stitch work, and the inside of the shoes feature the emblem of the Sidonia fleet. Other highlights include a design on the tongue that imitates a Guardian pilot arm band and the logo of the ubiquitous corporation in the series: TOA Heavy Industries. Fans won’t be able to resist either of these pairs of sneakers.
Pre-orders are currently being accepted through the collaboration brand Hybrid Mind Market. The deadline is July 31, and they will be shipped in late October. Each pair costs ¥9,612 (tax included).
