For the second round of Project Itoh Noitamina films, three titles are currently in development, including Project Itoh’s original novels Genocidal Organ, Harmony, and the 30-page introduction written by Itoh and finished by EnJoeToh, Empire of Corpses. The three films will be released in succession across Japan beginning from October 2015. New images of Empire of Corpses have been released, showing the protagonist John Watson, and the corpse record-keeper Friday.
The new Empire of Corpses images show the main characters John Watson and Friday. With the characters in suits, the impressive images certainly seem evocative of the story that takes place in fin de siècle London.
The director for the film will be Ryotaro Makihara, who also directed Hal, and the animation production will be handled by Wit Studio, best known for Attack on Titan and Hozuki no Reitetsu. With so many fictional characters appearing in this series, it remains to be seen how this will translate to the big screen.
In conjunction with this announcement, a new Project Itoh poster has also been released. This poster features spliced key visuals from Genocidal Organ, Harmony, and Empire of Corpses, in addition to the respective taglines.
Genocidal Organ’s tagline is: “Hell is within this mind”; Harmony’s is: “My heart rejects happiness”; and the tagline for Empire of Corpses is: “The forbidden craft to bring you back.” All three are deeply tied to the content of the films.
Furthermore, a teaser trailer will begin showing in Japanese theaters from June 20, with posters and flyers also scheduled to be distributed. With further details expected to become clear as the Project Itoh films move towards release, fans’ expectations are growing as autumn approaches.
