The Naruto stage play that has been garnering so much buzz since it was announced won’t just be coming to Fukuoka, Osaka, and Miyagi. It has been confirmed that the play will be coming to theaters all over Japan.
Live Viewing Japan will hold a live viewing of the AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo performance in theaters across Japan on May 10. This means that fans all over Japan will be able to intimately enjoy the stage play, which has been praised for its character portrayals that look like they jumped straight out of the 2D world.
Naruto is a hugely popular series by Masashi Kishimoto that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (published by Shueisha) from 1999–2014. The stage play will cover volumes 1-27 of the original manga, from Naruto and the gang’s childhood to the Valley of the End. Titled “Live Spectacle,” the play will bring to the stage the manga’s fast pace and will include a variety of special elements for the stage.
The live viewing will be held in theaters across Japan at 6:00 p.m. on May 10. Advance tickets will go on sale beginning at noon on March 28 on ePlus and Lawson Ticket. Tickets cost 3,600 yen (tax included).
Performing as main character Naruto Uzumaki in the stage play is Kodai Matsuoka who also played Kintaro Tooyama in the musical The Prince of Tennis 2nd Season. Playing Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno are Ryuji Sato and Yui Ito, respectively. Other wonderful actors who will recreate the world of Naruto onstage include Kenta Suga, Asahi Uchida, Yoshiaki Umegaki, and Hiro Yuumi.
The play will begin its Japan-wide tour on March 21 in Tokyo. It will move to Fukuoka on April 10, Osaka on April 17, and Miyagi on April 23, after which it will return for a final round of performances in Tokyo beginning April 29. Because the performance on May 10 will be the finale of the tour, it will likely be a performance that attracts fans’ attention.
A world tour of the play will also be held after this in Macau, Malaysia, and Singapore. Fans will want to experience this much-discussed play that has attracted excitement not just in Japan but overseas as well in theaters on the big screen.
