Hatsune Miku VocaloP Special Feature: kz, Creator of “Tell Your World”

In this series, we introduce Vocaloid producers of Hatsune Miku songs! In the spotlight of this seventh feature is kz, creator of “Tell Your World.”

The defining characteristic of kz’s musical compositions is the use of Auto-Tune to make Miku’s voice sound robotic. kz’s representative piece is the song “Packaged.” This song was uploaded in 2007, and due to how extraordinarily well-done and attentive to detail the piece was, it brought an intense impact to the Vocaloid realm at the time.

In 2012, “Tell Your World” was released in a collaboration between kz and Google Chrome. Thanks to this song, Hatsune Miku’s name was spread throughout the world, and in response to demands from countries all over the world, broadcasting was confirmed for 217 countries. This number is the largest ever in the history of a Japanese musical artist.

March 9 is Hatsune Miku Day!
In Japanese, three can be pronounced as both “mi” and “san.” Nine can be pronounced as both “ku” and “kyuu.” Therefore, March 9 can be pronounced, for the sake of pronunciation play, as “Miku” and “sankyuu,” which sounds like “thank you.” That is why March 9 is the day to celebrate Hatsune Miku.

Tokyo Otaku Mode operates on the idea of “bringing happiness to the world through otaku culture.” Hatsune Miku is a big part of Japan’s otaku culture, so we had to do something exciting for Miku Day, March 9.
