A talk program with Momoiro Clover Z and KISS was broadcast on Jan. 19, and during it the music video for “Yume no Ukiyo ni Saitemina” was shown for the first time. “Yume no Ukiyo ni Saitemina” will be released as both Momoclo disc and KISS disc versions. It will also come to the iTunes Music Store in 120 countries.
The intro section of the music video is done in animation. Sushio, one of Japan’s top animators, designed the animated versions of the members of Momoclo and KISS. The video continues with a battle scene. There are many scenes reminiscent of Kill la Kill, and they’re fun to watch. The second part of the 4 minute, 40 second video switches to an enjoyable live-action battle.
Sushio is a current employee of anime studio Trigger. In the days of Gainax, he was in charge of artwork for many series including Kare Kano and Ojamajo Doremi. He was also animation director and in charge of artwork on Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and he gained a reputation for the many artworks created for the series. At Trigger, his roles include character designer and chief animation director on Kill la Kill and more. Sushio is a self-proclaimed Momoclo fan even on Twitter and designed the outfits for “Otome Senso.” Being that this is such an improbable anime collaboration, fans are no doubt happy.
Momoclo has sung many anime theme songs, and they will likely have a new hit with their song for the forthcoming movie Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F. “Yume no Ukiyo ni Saitemina” will be released on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
