Comic It, a female-oriented comic magazine comprised entirely of original works and targeted mainly at “adult otaku women” in their 20s-30s, will launch next year. The first issue is planned to release in early spring 2015.
Comic It is an original comic magazine targeted at the adult women reader demographic who are “highly receptive to otaku culture” and “aim to be true otaku.” This is the same demographic that searches comic speciality stores for manga that seem interesting, posts to review sites and word of mouth sites, and are collectively credited with creating the stream of “adult otaku women.” In order to satisfy this demographic that has a high sense for aesthetics, the magazine is publishing countless works that are story driven and rewarding to read. The magazine will be available in print form, on the web, and on a smartphone app.
The print form of the magazine is scheduled to launch in early spring 2015, but publication has already begun for the web and smartphone app versions. The first three chapters of Shonen Shojo (author: Utako Yukihiro | project planner: Zenko Musashino), Hisohiso: Silent Voice (author: Yoko Fujitani), and Hakase Ga!! (author: Eri Sakondo)––which are transferring from the otome magazine Sylph and restarting serialization––will also be available to trail read on the web and smartphone app in time with the publication of the print form of the magazine.
