Recently, activity began to pick up for the first Naruto film in two years, The Last: Naruto the Movie. On Aug. 1, a teaser was released. The teaser is playing now in theaters across Japan and is also available to watch on the movie’s official site. At about 1 minute in length, fans can check out the latest information on this film touting “The Last” in its title.
The trailer shows a series of panels that have appeared in the manga to date. Appearing in the panels are well-known characters in a variety of poses and situations. The trailer has been finished off so that the history of the Naruto series can be felt from it. It’s surely enough to make fans cry. Lastly, it shows a grown up and mature Naruto along with the phrase ”Beyond the original work.” Just what does Naruto having matured mean? What will happen in the movie? Anticipation for the movie is palpable.
The anime Naruto is based on the huge hit manga of the same name to which there are over 130 million copies in print. It is well known for being popular not only in Japan but worldwide. This year marks the 15th year since Masashi Kishimoto began serializing his work in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha). The movie is releasing in celebration of this, and an exhibit tentatively titled Naruto Exhibit will also be held next year. Look forward to more on this big project collectively titled the “Naruto Shinjidai Kaimaku Project” to come.
